We are finishing up our study of African biomes and the children are starting on opinion writing.  Upon returning from the upcoming break the children will be delving into the study of botany and life cycles.  

Thank you so much for the donations that assisted us in attending the AMI conference in Nashville.  We had a great time and received new insights in the areas of Geography, Montessori Philosophy, Writing, Mindfulness, Spelling, and Math.  We are fortunate to be a part of this strong community and to have had the opportunity to attend this exciting event!

Hello Families!  Ms. Jess here.  I wanted to inform all of the Fox and Bear families that I will be out for 2 weeks after Spring Break.  I will be having surgery on March 31 and will need at least that amount of time to recover.  I look forward to seeing everyone when I return.  Please do not be alarmed.  Your students will be well taken care of and the learning process will continue.

The children have started their historical figure presentations and they are doing a lovely job. Thank you for all of your support and help from home. We will try to put together a video to share when everyone has presented. The children are also experimenting with building static electricity as well as assembling an electrical circuit.

We are currently ready to add cooking activities back into our curriculum!  However, as we organized our supplies it has come to our realization that our current portable stove/oven is not working.  We are hoping that there might be a parent that is talented in the art of appliance repair that would be willing to take a look at it. If so, please let us know and we can make arrangements to get it to you.

This week the children have learned about chemical reactions between solids and liquids by making Oobleck!  Thank you Dr. Seuss for inspiring this amazing activity!  We are also continuing our exploration of the biomes of Africa.  The children will be focusing on the desert in the coming weeks.

If you wish to make oobleck at home:

1 cup water (add green food coloring if desired)

2 cups corn starch

Paper Towels 

Water bottle labeled with your child's name

Black dry erase markers

SEND US TO THE AMS MONTESSORI CONFERENCE IN NASHVILLE!

We’re raising money in a fun way. Starting Monday families can add money to donation jars for each teacher attending the conference. Whichever teacher collects the most donations will get pied in the face on Pi Day (3-14).
