The children reviewed responsibility in the classroom this week.  We are working diligently on helping the children become self-reliant respectful humans.  Part of this work is taking responsibility for their classroom jobs as well as their attitudes and choices.  Please encourage these traits at home by:

• assigning chores that are age appropriate
• reading with younger siblings
• laying out clothes the night before for ease of dressing themselves
• helping with meal planning and preparation
• taking care of pets
• putting away toys and materials after use
• tracking their own limited use of technology

The children celebrated The International Day of Peace on Thursday by singing together!  It was a lovely celebration.  The children also took their first timed math fact test today.  It was eye opening when the time was up and many children had not finished.  Please remember to help your child review from Monday to Thursday as the facts will need to be memorized to move on to the next facts.

We are having a marvelous time learning about Pangea and plate tectonics.  The children participated in a fun experiment using crackers and peanut butter to explore the different plate movements and the landforms that these movements created.  Please note that over the next few weeks we will be scheduling parent classroom observations and conferences.  Be on the lookout for emails from Sign Up Genius to schedule your times.

Fox and Bear Community

The children are being introduced to Pangea and will be studying the continental drift as well as tectonic plates and landforms throughout the coming weeks.  The children have completed their i-ready testing for the Fall and can now use i-ready at home to practice their reading and math skills!  Students will be bringing home their school pictures today. Please keep/pay for the photos that you want and then return whatever photos you don't want back to school by Friday, September 22nd.  The school receives a small portion of the proceeds of each photo purchase, so thank you for your support!
