Fox and Bear Community

Last week, the students got a special presentation from SpaceX scientist (and aunt of Fox and Bear member, Landon) who did a Zoom call with our community from California. The children were very interested in hearing all she had to share about space exploration and the other planets in our solar system. They asked GREAT questions. 

We are looking forward to a productive week full of lessons and successful work completion. We will work in some festive, seasonal activities this week, but please do not send in any candy or costumes.

Winn-Dixie Picnic this Friday:

We recently completed the book Because of Winn-Dixie. On Friday, we plan to watch the movie and will host our own Winn-Dixie picnic to match the one they have in the story. You can sign up to contribute something at the link below. The picnic will take place from 1-2 pm on Friday, so students will still have regular school or home lunch at 11 am that day. (We're sorry that we can't accommodate parents or guests this Friday.)

Thank you to everyone for coming in for observations and conferences. We are wrapping up conferences this week and will email out conference notes to anyone who wasn't able to make it. Our next round of planned conferences will be mid-January to mid-February, but we are happy to meet in the interim as necessary.

Fox and Bear Community

We had a wonderful time at our first field trip of the year! Our students did a fantastic job performing Aesop's Fables at the Savannah Children's Theater. We're glad so many families could make it. Thank you to everyone for returning permission forms and processing payment so efficiently. 

We are very hopeful for a normal, 5-day week this week! We will be doing the second of Maria Montessori's Five Great Lessons: The Coming of Life.

Fox and Bear Community

We were thrilled to welcome our students back at school today! We hope this update finds you and families safe and well. We will spend this week getting back into our routines, lessons, and workplans. As a reminder, this week and next week are 4-day weeks for students. We look forward to getting as much work done as possible. 

Gardening Update for 2nd Graders:

Our second-year gardeners will be relieved to know that their potatoes not only survived the storm, but many thrived. Gardening students will likely get very dirty this Thursday, 10/10. Students will be hilling up their potato sprouts with soil - a totally hands on experience. The dark soil will likely make its way into sleeves, socks, shoes, etc. Please send children to school outfitted with gardening day in mind. 

Field Trips:

Permission forms for several field trips ahead will be coming home this week. Please sign and return as quickly as possible. Our first field trip is Friday, 10/18 at the Savannah Children's Theater.
