Fox and Bear Community

Culture is more than nationality or ancestry—it’s the traditions, values, and experiences that shape who we are.

At the 2025 Culture Fest, we invite our Ellis families to share their unique cultural heritage. The goal is to help children appreciate diversity while taking pride in their own culture — whether shaped by family traditions, fashion, food, music, sports, nature, or community connections.

You can contribute in many ways: set up a learning station, display family artifacts, wear cultural attire, or come as you are to celebrate with us. We’ll provide tables, chairs, and tents — just let us know what you need!

We need your help to make this a meaningful and joyful celebration for our children and community.

The PTA Culture Fest committee has come up with a great activity for students/families to do regarding their own family culture. They are encouraging students to create a flag showcasing things that represent their family's unique culture.

Fox and Bear Community

Thank you to everyone who participated in our Boosterthon fundraising efforts! Students enjoyed the fun activities last week and successfully earned some of the incentives they agreed upon as a community. Please check Remind for regular updates about our class rewards. All students in the Fox and Bear community are welcome to participate in the following:

• Tuesday, 2/25 - Hat Day
• Wednesday, 2/26 - Crazy Sock Day/Shoes Optional (in the classroom)
• Thursday, 2/27 - Extra Recess
• Friday, 2/28 - Class Picnic*

*Please note that this Friday, 2/28 is also a school-wide Donation Dress Down Day to raise funds for the Savannah Children's Theater. In honor of International Montessori Education Week, students are encouraged to dress like their favorite Montessori material. More info and examples can be found below. 

Thank you to everyone who donated items to our collection for Chatham County Animal Services. Students enjoyed a visit from special guests with CCAS as part of our Valentine's Day celebration.

Fox and Bear Community

We had a great week last week capped off with Career Speaker Day on Friday. Students enjoyed presentations from a space scientist, artist, math professor, counselor, veterinarian - and our very own, Ms. Kay, on her work as an environmental educator. The students were an engaged audience and asked excellent questions. 

Valentine's Day:

We are celebrating LOVE this week through a class Valentine Exchange and a collection of supplies for rescue animals in our community. These events will take place on Thursday, 2/13, due to the remote learning day on Friday. Students will be decorating bags here at school to hold their Valentine goodies. Additional information, including student names and pet supplies needed for the donation, can be found here. 

Workplans and Folders:

Workplans were sent home on Friday. Please review and discuss with your student, and let us know if you have any questions. Also, please remove the workplan so we know it was received and return the folders. 

Conferences:

Midyear conferences are under way. Contact us if you haven't received a link for a conference sign up. 

Upcoming Dates:

Thursday, 2/13 - PTA Boosterthon Kick-Off and Valentine's Day Celebration. 

Friday, 2/14 - Remote learning half-day for students. Students do not come to school this day. 

Monday, 2/17 - No school for students. Staff planning day.
