Fox and Bear Community

Happy Tuesday, Fox and Bear Families! Folders are coming home today with last week's work plan. Please remove all paperwork, so we know it was received. We encourage you to discuss your child's work each week when the plans come home. We are missing a few students' folders from last week. Please try to return them in bookbags each Wednesday.

Students have been enjoying studying trees over the last few weeks. They have had a series of lessons on the parts of a tree, and we are making our own class tree. Students have also been doing nature journaling in the front garden in small groups. They have loved drawing and writing their observations in nature.

Media Center Procedures:
Each student has been assigned a day when they may visit the media center to return and check out books. Students must ask a teacher for permission to visit on their day, and we send a maximum of 4 students at a time. Tree Groups and corresponding media center days (M.C.) are listed below. Please let us know if you have any questions.

Remind App: Please download the Remind app to ensure you are getting all messages. We have learned that some people who have joined are still missing messages if they don't have the app downloaded.

Greetings, Fox and Bear families! Today is Explorations Day, so students are enjoying their rotation of music, PE, art, technology, Spanish, engineering classes. Students did well with their first week of using workplans last week. This is very much a learning process. New students often need many reminders to get their work checked and sign off on the workplan, which we will continue to do. Please check folders today and remove all paperwork, so we know it was received. Please send empty folders back at your earliest convenience. We encourage you to discuss your child's work each week when the plans come home.

Getting to Know You Bags:

We've loved learning more about one another through the Getting To Know You Bags. If your student hasn't brought one in yet, they are welcome to. We are rotating through a few a day. Items must fit inside a tote bag and be the same number as the students age (a 7 year-old student may bring up to 7 items.)

Student Devices and PowerSchool:
If you have not already done so, please complete the following forms in PowerSchool:

  • Code of Conduct
  • Family Protection Plan
  • Student Device Loan Form
Once you are in PowerSchool, you can select the “Forms” button to complete the forms for each child. You can find information (linked here) to request access and recover PowerSchool accounts.
The Family Protection Plan is now available for purchase through School Cash Online. We strongly encourage that you purchase the $25 Family Protection Plan (FPP) through School Cash Online. The FPP will cover accidental damage of the device. Fox and Bear Community

Welcome, Fox and Bear Families! We are so excited for the year ahead. We spent the first week of school getting to know each other and going over the expectations and procedures for the classroom. We will continue to practice these routines as our students settle into our community in the coming weeks. We also began lessons and work with Montessori materials. This week, students had their first Explorations Day which will occur every Tuesday this year. Students will also get their first weekly work plan on Wednesday, 8/13. Moving forward, work plans for the previous week will come home each Monday or Tuesday afternoon.

Getting to Know You Bags:
Last week, the teachers began telling the students a bit more about ourselves with an activity called Getting To Know You Bags. Beginning this week, students are invited to bring in and present to the class a tote bag with a number of small items that tell us a little bit about them. Items must fit inside a tote bag and be the same number as the students age (a 7 year-old student may bring up to 7 items.) We will invite a few students to share their bags each day over these first few weeks of school.

Student Devices and PowerSchool: If you have not already done so, please complete the following forms in PowerSchool:

  • Code of Conduct
  • Family Protection Plan
  • Student Device Loan Form
