Fox and Bear Community

Students enjoyed a lesson on recycling last Friday after our lunch in the front garden. We are looking forward to a fun week of learning. Our first field trip is this Thursday at the Ships of the Sea Museum. We plan to eat lunch there before returning to school, so students will not have access to a microwave. Please keep this in mind if packing a home lunch on Thursday. On Friday, we have a day of special seasonal activities planned, including estimating the number of seeds in a pumpkin, carving a pumpkin, and doing a Halloween scavenger hunt. Please do not send in any candy or costumes. While our activities will be festive and fun, we need the students to remain focused on learning.

We have also enjoyed meeting with everyone for our conferences over the last few weeks to discuss your students. To our new families - please be on the lookout for a sign-up schedule to come in for a classroom observation. Observations are very valuable to understanding your student's experience in the lower elementary classroom.

Fox and Bear Community

Last week, students enjoyed The Second Great Montessori Lesson: The Coming of Life. The lesson focuses on the emergence of life including
microorganisms, plants, and animals that have lived (or now live) on the earth. The students did a fantastic job acting out various life forms as we told the story. We also started cursive writing lessons and will continue practice throughout the year.

Thank you to everyone who sent in supplies last week. We are still in need of cotton balls for our cloud study work and would greatly appreciate any donations. We are always in need of paper towels and cleaning wipes, so please feel free to send those in at any time if you are able to. Thank you for your support.

If you haven't signed up for a conference yet, please check your email for a sign up link from Ms. Kirsten, Ms. Jess, or Ms. Suzy. Let us know if you need to schedule an alternate time. It's hard to believe that the first quarter of the school year ends this Thursday, 10/9. We hope you enjoy the upcoming long weekend. See important dates below, and reach out with any questions!

Important Dates:
