The children are beginning research on Europe in the coming weeks.  As we are researching we will also be having an in-depth study of nonfiction/informative writing.  When reading with your child please discuss if the books you are reading are fact (nonfiction) or fantasy (fiction).

When your child is absent it is crucial that an excuse is submitted to the office as soon as possible after the absence.  Ideally, a written note sent in and given to the teacher is the easiest way for us to turn these in.  If you need to email the excuse we can print it out and turn it in.  Please do not send excuses in via the remind app as it is very difficult for us to print these and turn them in.  If you receive a reminder to send in excuses for past days please send these in as we will have to send additional reminders.  All absences require an excuse. It can be a doctor's note or a simple parent note stating why your child was not at school.

It's time for conferences.  Please schedule a time that works for your schedule.  We are required to have 3 conferences each year so please take advantage of this opportunity to discuss your child's progress.  Thank you!

The children are now taking a larger role in snack preparation.  They are planning the menu each week and making the shopping list.  They are also slicing, mixing, and preparing the snacks for their friends each day.  Each week we have new helpers and everyone will have a chance to take charge before the year's end. We are down to our last gift card for snack for next week.  As you all know, groceries are becoming more expensive and we want to continue to provide the children with healthy snacks so please send in grocery gift cards if you are able to.

Our field trip to Fort Pulaski was a huge success!  The children learned about what life was like in the 1800s.  We participated in music and candle making.  We also had the opportunity to card wool and to help bake corn bread in a Dutch oven over and under hot coals.

Thank you to all for your generosity in giving gifts to the Fox and Bear community for the holidays. We received several gift cards that we are using for the snacks for January. We will need additional funds to last for the rest of the school year. If you have the means to send in Kroger gift cards to use for snack we would greatly appreciate it. Please be sure to write your name and the amount on the gift card so that we can keep up with these funds. Thank you!

We will be celebrating the 100th day of school on Thursday, January 19th. We are asking the children to bring in a resealable bag with 100 of any object. Examples may include: cereal pieces, buttons, popcorn, pasta, rocks etc.
The children will be using these items for a variety of mathematical activities. We appreciate your assistance in helping your child to gather these materials.
