Fox and Bear Community

The children are continuing to learn about the earth and the elements present on the earth as well as landforms.  Additionally, next week all of the students will be participating in i-ready testing.  The Math portion of the assessment will be taken on Tuesday, August 29th.  The Language will be on Wednesday, August 30th.  Make Up testing will happen on Thursday, August 31st.  Please make sure that your child(ren) get a good night's rest, a healthy breakfast, and arrive to school on time. The children will also be having an e-learning day on Friday, September 1.  More information to come.

Two of our own Ellis students are participating in a Do Good Grant.  Please participate if you would like to help the families of Maui.

Thank you for the donation of a set of lunch trays and the set of brooms!  !  We are still in need of an additional set of trays and then we should be set.  This item can be found at the amazon link above.    

The children received their computers this week.  If you have not filled out the technology form in Power School, your child will not receive a device.  We strongly recommend that you purchase the $25 insurance.  A cracked screen will cost $90 without the insurance.

Fox and Bear Community

We are enjoying our study of the Earth and we are exploring creation stories.  The children are becoming more aware of time management and most of them are completing their daily work.   You should have received an email yesterday regarding your child's teacher of contact.  If you did not, please let us know.

If your child needs to stay home with an illness please be sure to send in a written or emailed excuse when they are out or upon return to school.  Excuses sent in remind are difficult for us to print.

  Next week, we will be starting our Earth Science unit of study.  We are excited to have our first Great Lesson next week.  This week the children were introduced to their work plans. Students will be keeping track of their daily assignments/lessons/accomplishments in the various subject areas.  We will be allowing them another week to adjust to this time management tool. After that, if your child is having difficulty completing the majority of assignments we will be contacting you to have a discussion with your child. Fox and Bear Community

We are thrilled to be back in the building!  The children have had a great couple of days to become acclimated to the environment and we are looking forward to a successful year. Montessori Birthdays

Walk Around the Sun

We celebrate birthdays in a special way at Charles Ellis.  The children participate in a "Walk Around the Sun".  For each year that the child has experienced, they will circle around the sun and tell the class a memory or show a picture of themselves at that age.  Please send in a picture for each year of your child's life.  These photos can be assembled into a timeline if you'd like.  When this is done they can simply add a photo each year to participate the following year.  

A snack can also be sent in to help us celebrate.  Please create a healthy, low sugar snack.  Some examples could be: popcorn, yogurt sundaes with fruit, fruit kabobs, mini-muffins, fruit salad etc. Please do not send cupcakes or cookies. We will be having our birthday celebrations at 10:30 or 1:30 on the school day closest to your child's birthday.
