Foxes and Bears-October 30, 2020
The 9th Annual PTA Read-A-Thon will run November 1-30th. This year, we are raising money for school-wide digital subscriptions to platforms such as BrainPOP, BrainPOP Jr., Transparent Classroom, etc.
Not only will the funds benefit our school, but students will also enjoy time reading and this is something
that can be done as a family. We hope the time your family spends participating in this Read-A-Thon
encourages a love of reading and time spent together supporting a good cause.
Register each of your students at this website. You will be provided with a personal link that you can share with family and friends to ask for their pledge of support. You can view more information and keep track of your student's reading at this 2020 Read-A-Thon Flyer. Thank you for your support!
If you have any questions, contact Ms. Lisa (lisa.odonnell@sccpss.com).
Classroom Reminders:
- Please be aware of background noise while your student is in classroom meetings. Your child should be working in a quiet place without loud music, television, or loud conversation.
- The stamp game is an integral material to the lower elementary Montessori classroom. There are several options for acquiring this material. The wooden stamp game set can be purchased. The virtual stamp game and directions for making your own stamp game can be found under the math plan under stamp game on the It's Learning platform. Please make sure that all 2nd and 3rd grade students are using the stamp game on a regular basis for solving equations. It can be used for all four operations both with static and dynamic relationships.
- Please also remind your child to keep track of the work that he/she is doing on a daily basis. This can be done with a work plan or a checklist. The work can then be uploaded to the platform daily or at the end of the week. It is also important that directions be read and followed on assignments. It may be necessary to check in and make sure that your child is understanding expectations for work.
Give your support and spread some much needed holiday cheer with beautiful holiday evergreens from the Pacific Northwest! Proceeds go to support and improve the Ellis pond and gardens. Deadline to order at the website below is November 1st.
Conferences
If you have scheduled a conference for next week you should be receiving a notice from Transparent Classroom informing you that your conference notes have been posted. Please read over this conference form prior to our scheduled conference time. By doing so, we can save our time for questions and/or concerns during your scheduled meeting. Your conference will be held in our morning Zoom Office Hours which can be accessed through your child's It's Learning platform.
If you have not yet signed up for a conference you may do so by clicking on the link below.
